The Airbus A350 continues catching the eye in its Americas Tour. After leaving Atlanta in a visit to Delta Air Lines, the airliner continued its route with a stop at Newark Liberty Airport, where investors and media were invited to take a look at the newest member of the Airbus Family in the premises of United Airlines -another major A350 customer.

The A350-900 that visited Newark Liberty International Airport yesterday is equipped with 252 seats in a two-class generic Airbus configuration, 42 in lie-flat Business Class and 210 Economy Class seats, plus flight test equipment station. This particular aircraft (MSN2) is a test aircraft that has reached the end of its testing phase, and once the tour concludes, it will be sold and refurbished to meet the needs of its new operator.
The Airbus A350 XWB (Extra Wide Body) name is not an euphemism. Passengers coming aboard will notice a little more room on this aircraft, as its interior spans 221 inches wide. That means in Economy in a 9-seat across configuration (Airbus preferred configuration on this aircraft) you have 18″ of space.
One of the latest trends in the next-generation aircraft are the oversized panoramic windows. In the case of the Airbus A350, these features are not an exception, including a novel electric blind system, which is similar to that seen in corporate aircraft. Oversized baggage bins are also a signature feature of this aircraft, . Also, one of the things customers may notice is more foot room as the IFE box is no longer located underneath the seat.
Back in 2013 during the 50th Paris Air Show, United Airlines converted a previous order for 25 A350-900s into an order for 35 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, the largest version of the A350 XWB family, which typically seats 350 passengers in a three-class layout. The aircraft is capable of flying 8,400 nautical miles non-stop, and will be operated by United on higher density routes, including non-stop flights between the United States and the Asia/Pacific region.
After this visit to Newark, the A350 left to Chicago O’Hare Airport for a visit to United Airlines. Thereafter, the aircraft will be heading bound to Milwaukee for a technical stop prior to its flying and static display at EAA Airventure.
