Last time we reported on the 2015 Roush Stage 3 Mustang, a.k.a. RS3, the company had just opened the order banks and hinted to us that the final output figure of the RS3’s supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 could be in excess of 630 horsepower. Now we know that Roush was being rather coy with that figure, revealing today that the RS3 pumps out no less than 670 ponies at its 6800-rpm redline, with 545 lb-ft of torque arriving at 5000 revs, all courtesy of Roush’s 2.3-liter TVR supercharger.

Certainly, this will come as music to the ears of any RS3 customers who signed on the dotted line thinking that 630-ish horsepower would be sufficient—and it should be—even if it couldn’t quite make it into the “700 Club,” whose members include Saleen’s recently introduced 730-hp Mustang S302 Black Label and the 717-hp Hennessey HPE700 Mustang, to say nothing of the bogey they’ve all been chasing: the 707-hp Dodge Challenger Hellcat. That said, anything packing 670 ponies will be plenty fast, and we can’t wait to get our grubby paws on one. Stay, um, “tuned.”
