See what it’s like to land on much smaller French aircraft carrier


Navy pilots are experts at taking off from and landing on aircraft carriers, but landing on a much smaller French carrier takes even more skill.

The crew of a U.S. Navy C-2A Greyhound from VRC-30 DET 1 based at NAS North Island shot this video as they landed and took off from the French carrier Charles de Gaulle earlier this month on a resupply mission. The de Gaulle is deployed in the Persian Gulf along with the larger USS Carl Vinson to target ISIS forces in Iraq.

Below is a video of F/A-18s from the USS Carl Vinson performing a series of “touch and go” landings and catapult-launchings on board the de Gaulle for qualification.
