Air France unveiled its newest premium product for its first class cabin, La Premiere, on Wednesday.
The new seat, manufactured by B/E Aerospace, can be more accurately described as a suite. The space is large, coming in at 32 square feet of surface area (3m sq). Inside one can find a 24-inch touch screen flat screen TV with an iPhone-like control remote. A full size ottoman can accommodate a guest, with a nearly two foot by two foot retractable table in between to hold dinner or a pair of drinks. Two international electric sockets along with USB ports can keep occupants power up.
Unlike many of the suites found in the air thus far, it features a mobile partition and adjustable curtains to close in the space rather than sliding doors. It also features a fully flat, 30 inch wide, 79 inch-long bed, to which flight attendants add a mattress and sheets for a full turn-down service.
The airline also highlighted a number of top materials involved in the seat, everything from leather to suede to metals and woods.
A total of 76 of the suites will be rolled out across 19 of the carrier’s Boeing 777-300 aircraft. That makes for only four each, in a 1-2-1 configuration, for a more exclusive experience. Check out a rendered video of the suite in action here.
The seat will be making appearances at Air France events in Shanghai in May, New York in late June, and Paris in September in conjunction with the carrier’s new ad campaign: “Air France, France is in the air”, released in late March.
Air France recently unveiled a refreshed business class cabin in February of this year. The product, which is the same as the one currently found on American Airlines 777-300s and Cathay Pacific, will be rolled out on Boeing 777s. The first is due to hit the skies in several week’s time, in June.
