Delta launches first international flights with Gogo's Wi-Fi service

After the company set off on a major expansion last year, Gogo's in-flight Wi-Fi service is being switched on for its first international voyages with Delta today. Two flights — both traveling from the US to Tokyo — are the first to offer passengers access to Gogo's international Wi-Fi service. The 740-400 jumbo jet is Delta's first plane equipped with Gogo's Ku-band satellite service, which serves as the backbone for the international data coverage. Back in December, Gogo received the green light to begin installing its newest satellite technology on 740-400 aircraft, and Delta along with Japan Airlines quickly signed on to offer Wi-Fi services to long-haul travelers.
