Another Dreamliner takes flight

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner really does fly. The plane had its first flight today at Paine Field in Everett, Washington and it got off the ground, just as expected.

The new model is 20 feet longer than the 787-8 which adds about 40 seats to the type. It is going in to service first with Air New Zealand with roughly 400 frames ordered so far by several airlines. Etihad has the largest open order book of the type with 41 pending. American Airlines and ANA each are expecting 30 deliveries.

Always fun to see a new aircraft take to the skies, making this an especially fun week as the Bombardier CS100 had a similar event yesterday.
