BMW Prices 2013 M5, M6, X6 M, and X1 [New York Auto Show]

BMW Prices 2013 M5, M6, X6 M, and X1 [New York Auto Show]:
2013 BMW M5
BMW has announced pricing for the 2013 M5, M6, and X6 M—as well as the new-for-U.S. X1 crossover. The new M models need no introduction: We’ve already reported on the all-new 560-hp M5 and M6 at length, and the X6 M is only slightly refreshed for 2013. The M5 and M6 took a two-year hiatus—both were last sold in the U.S. as 2010 models—so the 2013 cars’ prices will be compared to those. The 2010 M5 and M6 have gas-guzzler taxes included in their prices; it’s unknown if the new cars and their downsized and turbocharged V-8 engines will carry the same penalty, so it’s possible they will cost more than what we’ve listed here. Complete pricing for the latest M cars below, followed by the X1:
  • 2013 M5: $90,695 ($1120 increase from 2010 model)
  • 2013 M6 coupe: $106,995 ($770 increase from 2010 model)
  • 2013 M6 convertible: $113,995 ($1970 increase from 2010 model)
  • 2013 X6 M: $93,795 ($2600 increase from last year)

The price increases for the M5 and M6 make sense given those cars’ improvements relative to their predecessors. With no mechanical improvements, however, the face-lifted X6 M’s bump in cost is harder to justify. Pricing-wise, the 2013 X1 perfectly slots below the larger X3. That crossover starts at $39,395 for the four-cylinder xDrive28i and moves up to $44,495 for the six-cylinder xDrive35i.
2013 BMW X1
Although the X1 is new to our market after debuting at the New York auto show, it has been on sale overseas for a few years. The littlest BMW crossover will be available with a 240-hp, turbo four-cylinder in rear-wheel-drive sDrive28i and all-wheel-drive xDrive28i guises. The 300-hp, turbocharged six-cylinder model comes only in all-wheel-drive xDrive35i form. Pricing for the three X1 models:
  • X1 sDrive28i: $31,545
  • X1 xDrive28i: $33,245
  • X1 xDrive35i: $39,345

The X6 M hits dealers in May, followed by the M6 convertible in June, the M6 coupe and M5 later in the summer, and the X1 will finally go on sale in the U.S. this fall.
