Google’s Massive Developer Event Sells Out in 20 Minutes:
Maybe it’s the desire to develop Google apps. Or maybe it’s the allure of that “Oprah moment,” getting the latest Android hardware for free. Whatever the reason, Google knows how to sell out an event.
Google I/O, the company’s annual developer event, sold out in “just a bit over 20 minutes,” according to Google’s Senior Vice-President of Social Business Vic Gundotra. The event gives developers access to sessions and information on Google’s Chrome, Android, Google+ and Google TV products. The sessions will also feature non-Google technologies including HTML5 and AJAX.
Last year’s Google I/O sold out in 59 minutes and attendees received a free Samsung Galaxy Tab, Verizon hotspot and Samsung Chromebook just for showing up. In 2011′s biggest I/O keynote, the company focused on Android@Home. This year’s main focus is anyone’s guess, but considering how much Google is pushing social, Google+ could be pushed into the limelight.
If you missed your chance to get tickets to the event, Google will be livestreaming the keynote and key sessions. Other session videos will be available after 24 hours.
It’ll be just like being there. You know, without the hardware freebies.
