Four Super Tucanos attacked the clandestine airstrip, near the border with Colombia, on August 10, dropping eight 230kg bombs, the defense ministry says. Cut from the jungle, the runway was detected from satellite imagery by Brazil's Sivam Amazon surveillance system.

Operation Agate 1 saw the first operational use of the Brazilian air force's recently delivered Elbit Hermes 450 medium-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aircraft. They were some of the 35 aircraft involved in the operation, which was launched on August 5 and for which a special air group was formed.
In addition to the Super Tucanos of 1º/3º Aviation Group's Scorpion Squadron, the attack on the Amazon airstrip involved four upgraded F-5Ms of Pacau Sqn, two Embraer R-99 (EMB-145) electronic-intelligence aircraft, two UH-60 Black Hawks of Harpia Sqn. and a Cessna C-98 (Caravan) transport.
