Libya: Precision Bombing

Libya: Precision Bombing: "There's a lot of talk coming out of NATO these days about the operation in Libya, with little sign of any major progress being made.

That said, today the Royal Air Force released a rather remarkable picture, which shows damage done by a Tornado GR4 using Paveway IV laser/GPS-guided bombs:

According to the RAF, the building is located on the outskirts of Misratah and was being used by Qadhafi regime forces. They were directing rocket and other attacks at the city from there, the U.K. asserts.

The mission for the Tornados, vectored in by a flying forward air controller,
was to destroy only the top two floors of the building. Two bombs were used by one of the aircraft, each targeting a wing of the structure.

The before and after picture shows clearly the effect the two 500 lb. bombs had. It looks like a rather nifty bit of targeting.
