If you can’t buy your own Bentley and enjoy its supple leather, finely finished wood trim, and other toffee-nosed trimmings, why not at least spend your day assembling them? Bentley is looking for 20 new apprentices to join its crew in Crewe in the fields of “craft, technical, technician, junior engineer, commercial, and business.” (Lest you think an apprenticeship is just a typical Bentley anachronism, this sort of half-work, half-classroom training is still an institutionalized system in the UK.) The program mixes work at Bentley with classroom time at local colleges. While apprentices don’t graduate with a BA in Bentley Azures, many will move on to full-time positions at the company. Those who don’t will be invited to build bespoke furniture for the Car and Driver office.
