Airbus Military has released some new pictures of A400M flight trials (see below).
These tests are related to validating specific low-speed performance elements of the aircraft. During the takeoff tests, the aircraft was fitted with a protective device at the rear fuselage, which can be seen throwing sparks in the first picture:
The trials, at the French air force flight test center at Istres, were run to assess Vmu, the lowest speed at which the aircraft can take off.These tests are related to validating specific low-speed performance elements of the aircraft. The A400M nosed was raised to 13 deg. pitch-up angle at which point the protective 'bumper' struck the runway. "
